My Background

I earned my BFA in Communication Design from Buffalo State College. During my junior year I took a welcomed break from the traditional undergraduate program and studied overseas in Manchester, England. I learned a lot about thinking out of the box while I was there. During my stay I interned at a small design company called mfive where I did some Flash work.

After graduating I almost immediately found a job at Buffalo Games, a jigsaw puzzle and board game manufacturer. This industry really fits my upbeat and goofy personality. I have worked on perfecting rules and game play as well as designing visuals for these games. A couple years ago I invented my first game. It was a children's card game called Monster Maker. Many of the projects I have worked on are posted on the blog/home page.

I had always played games and made up some of my own, but I had never thought about it as a job. I enjoy games so much that I decided to go back to college for my graduate degree and learn more about game theories and other designers work.

Currently, I'm attending the University of Buffalo and working on my Masters in Fine Arts in Visual Studies. I'm concentrating on games and play. I am very interested in how play creates a safe environment for its participants to experiment outside of their comfort zone. I want to use games as a call to action.
